The official Pokémon tournament, "2025-26 Malaysia Master Ball League," was held over two days on April 25 and 26, 2026, at the Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre in Selangor, Malaysia, attracting a significant number of players from within Malaysia.
A total of 4,280 attendees joined the two-day event, marking a remarkable increase of 176% compared to the previous year. Of this total, 1,752 players competed in the main tournament, while 2,528 visitors engaged in various side events, including Nintendo Switch 2 Hands-On Experience, Pokémon MEZASTAR, and beginner-friendly trial programs for Pokémon Trading Card Game etc., designed to enhance the overall visitor experience.
This tournament also marked a historic milestone with the debut of Pokémon Champions, delivering exceptionally competitive and thrilling battles. Notably, participation surged by 217% compared to previous tournaments for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, reflecting a growing audience that enjoys this more accessible way to battle. With the mobile launch coming, the excitement surrounding the title is expected to reach even greater heights.
Top finishers from both TCG division and VGC division earned invitations to compete in the 2026 Pokémon World Championships, scheduled to be held in San Francisco, USA, in August 2026, where they will represent Malaysia on the global stage.
